Star Berries
The Native Americans called blueberries "star berries"?
Each blossom end forms a 5 point star. They believed the "Great
Sprit" sent them to feed their children when they were hungry.
They also harvested blueberries, dried them, beat them into a pulp
and combined them with cornmeal, honey, and water to make a pudding
called "Sautauthig". |

Honey Bees
Blueberry Lane Farm uses honey bees from West Virginia to help
produce some of the largest crops in Southern Delaware! The bee acts
like a pollen delivery service, the pollen that sticks to a bee's
body will fall off as it visits new flowers, delivering the needed
pollen. Each plant will then use this pollen to produce seeds. |

Robert Frost
A famous American poet who
liked blueberries SO much, he wrote a poem about picking them!
"Blueberries as big as the end of your thumb, Real sky-blue,
and heavy, and ready to drum in the cavernous pail of the first one
to come! And all ripe together, not some of them green and some of
them ripe! You ought to have seen! - R. Frost |

Did you Know?
If all the blueberries grown in North America in one year were
spread out in a single layer, they would cover a four-lane highway
that stretched from New York to Chicago
